Social Enterprises (SEs) are organizations or business ventures seeking to fulfill a social or environmental mission by using business tools and strategies. These organizations address a diverse range of challenges by employing an equally wide spectrum of business models and approaches.

In this sector, Mission Markets is partnering with B-Lab to expand the capital raising efforts of their growing network of B Corporations. Currently, B-Lab has 255 B Corporations with $1.1 billion in revenue across 54 industries. Other potential candidates for our capital raising services are entities using the L3C structure. For non-profit SEs, Mission Markets envisions working with members of various networks such as ANDES, whose members collectively manage over $750 million as of 2008.

Community Supported Enterprises

Community Supported Enterprises (CSE’s) are companies that operate within a community or localized region providing a product or service that plays an important role within the fabric of that community. Similar to CSA’s or Community Supported Agriculture, CSE’s are a concept whereby the local community can make direct investments in a specific enterprise and participate in the companies growth while also supporting the local community. This can be done by the use of private placements that are limited to accredited individuals and a maximum of 35 non accredited individuals or DPO’s (Direct Public Offerings) that allow the company to become publicly traded without the use of an underwriter or financial sponsor.

Mission Markets supports the funding of CSE’s through private placement offerings and DPO’s on its password protected platform enabling these organizations to access mission aligned and local capital and secondary liquidity and trading in a regulatory compliant manner.
